Mother and the Shawl – City on the seashore by Volodymyr Orlovsky

City on the seashore by Volodymyr Orlovsky

It is almost the end of the day. The sun is about to set, mirroring its reflection in the water. On the sand, families are enjoying the last rays, looking up, absorbing the energy sent from above. Admiring the immensity of the clouds, the inhabitants of the coast lose themselves in the depth of the sky.

Children play with the sand, building castles and fortresses, while adults imagine a life away from their own donjons.

It is almost the end of the day. A mother has covered her children’s shoulders with cardigans before she delicately placed a white shawl on her head. Sheltered under a piece of fabric she feels protected. She walks unsteadily on the beach, her bare feet digging into the wet sand each time she takes a step.

The laughter of the children running around alleviates the worries and concerns enshrouding the mother. Like sand filtering through an open hand, disappearing in the fingers, troubles eventually disappear with time.
